Equipment at Core Facility for Flowcytometry

The Core Facility offers both flowcytometry, cell sorting, and MSD reader equipment. Our vision is that CFFC will allow users access to both simple and more advanced instruments so everyone can make analyses within there own capability. We are happy to help you determining the right instruments for you to use, and to assist you with the choice of protocol to solve your scientific questions in the best possibly way.

We have a very broad range of users with knowledge of many protocols that we can put you in contact with.

Flow cytometer

The Flow cytometer equipment at CFFC can be used to analyze all kinds of cell subsets, their DNA content, their cytokine production, turnover rate etc. The only limitation on what cells that can be analyzed is the size, it must be able to pass the needle in the instrument. The needle is 70µm in diameter and the general rule is that the particle should be half the size for it to work. If you are in doubt, contact the staff to determine your options.

If you would like to run bacteria on our instrument, please contact us.

Cell Sorter

The Cell Sorter offers a wide range of sorting options in tubes, microtiter plates and slides. The cell sorter can only be booked and used together with the operator from the facility. Our experience is that this instrument requires so much experience that few get to a point where they can operate it on their own.

MESO QuickPlex SQ 120

The QuickPlex instrument is the newest multiplexing instrument from MSD, offering affordable access to high‑performance, electrochemiluminescence immunoassays. This compact system has been engineered for reliability, ease of use, and low cost of ownership. The combination of rapid read times and the ability to perform multiple, simultaneous tests on a single sample increases productivity, conserves sample, and delivers results quickly. The QuickPlex has a wide menu of commercially available assay kits and a full line of components and reagents for developing your own assays.

If you have any questions we will be happy to advice you on which system to use for your experiments.
